Now on tour with bandmates New Edition, Brown says he's ready to return to his solo career with the album "Masterpiece," due out June 5.
"It's what I've been through throughout my life, and just trying to heal myself through my music," the 43-year-old singer said in a recent interview.
"Masterpiece" is Brown's first album in 14 years. He was a multiplatinum star with New Edition and later developed his solo career. But his well-documented battle with drugs and his legal woes led to his musical decline. His turbulent marriage to Whitney Houston further eroded his image.

WAS GEORGE MICHAEL THE VICTIM
OF A PHONE HACKING SCAM?

The singer has previously been named as a possible victim of News of the World phone hacking. "I was asked to talk to the Leveson inquiry, but I declined," Mr Michael wrote. He went on: "It has been several years since two hacking journalists were sent to prison for bugging the royal family. "Why on earth are the rights of the royal family more important than those of Milly Dowler's parents, or of any of the hundreds of people whose lives have been violated by the press?" He concluded: "The day they make this sham real and start genuinely prosecuting people I would [be] more than happy to help ... till then, what's the point." The News of the World's then-royal editor Clive Goodman and private investigator Glenn Mulcaire were jailed for illegally accessing royal aides' mobile phone voicemails in 2007. WILL PRINCE HAVE TO KISS AWAY 3.9 MILLION DOLLARS?

The leader of the New Power Generation, Prince, was dealt a financial blow recently after a New York judge ordered him to pay $3.95 million to Revelations Perfume and Cosmetics.
Revelations claimed Prince was hired to promote their fragrance during media interviews and in-store appearances, but the "Purple Rain" singer did not follow through on his end of the bargain.
The company argued that the lack of promotions caused lackluster sales and resulted in the cancellation of a licensing deal.

GEORGE MICHAEL has finished work on his
"best dance record ever".

The singer was hospitalised with pneumonia in Austria last year while performing a series of shows for the first time in three years. George is now back to health and getting his music career back on track. He has promised that his comeback will be an impressive one. "Ok my lovelies, WHITE LIGHT is done and dusted! Am I allowed to say it may be the best dance record I've ever made....! (sic)" he wrote on his Twitter page. "Finished it today..... :)"
At the beginning of the month, George updated his fans on his progress with White Light. The 48-year-old British star couldn't wait to tell fans of his plans to produce the track. "Yesterday I began to write a song called White Light. It's for all of you, for everyone who prayed for me, for every one of you who has prayed for me, for every person who has stopped me in the streets to ask me how I'm doing, you have made me feel so blessed (sic)," he previously wrote. Muir chronicles the history and lasting impact of Purple Rain in his new tome, on shelves today, from Prince's early quest to find the right film vehicle for himself to his collaboration with director Magnoli in making drastic changes to screenwriter William Blinn's original script (then called Dreams) -- a script that, Magnoli and producer Robert Cavallo say had been passed over by countless directors. The provocative image was taken by fashion photographer Steven Meisel but was never included in her controversial 1992 book Sex. The 1990 photo is expected to fetch over $10,000 when it goes under the hammer at Bonhams in New York next month. Madonna – who would have been around 32 years old when the photo was taken – is featured sporting bleach-blonde hair and dark eye make-up. A strategically placed bed sheet saves the shot from indecency as she sprawls out naked on her mattress. She stares seductively at the camera as she places a lit cigarette into her mouth with a pair of manicured fingertips. Her tome Sex contained a series of sexually provocative and explicit images, all captured by Meisel. Despite a poor critical reception, the book went on to shift 1.5 million copies in a matter of days. It coincided with the release of her equally raunchy fifth studio album Erotica. Famed French designer John Paul Gaultier -- the man who created Madge's iconic 1990 outfit -- was recently appointed the creative director of Diet Coke. His first order of business was to create the new bottles, showing off not only the Queen of Pop's signature look, but his own: white and blue stripes.
The cream-colored Madonna bottle, which has no official tie to the singer, is painted with a fishnet corset and, of course, cone bra.
